Curacao
Curacao, our first port, features
Dutch architecture. The story is that one of the early governors complained
of headaches caused by the sun reflecting on the white buildings so all
the buildings were painted in different colors -- it turns out the governor
owned a paint factory!
Barbara and Chip
toured the Curacao liquor factory (and sampled several different flavors
of the product!) while Dale went scuba diving.
Chip & Dale on
the natural (coral) bridge
and at Casibari
In Aruba, the 3 of us toured
(and climbed) Casibari, a natural rock formation; the natural bridge (coral
arching over a beach); and St. Anne's church.
I MUST go back to Aruba with my good camera for some serious photography
-- click
here to see why.

The La Restinga Lagoon on Isla de Margarita, Venezuela
On Isla de la Margarita, we took a boat ride around the lagoon and visited the botanical garden.
Soufriere with the Pitons in the background on St. Lucia; sulphur spring in the "drive-in" volcano crater
We toured from Castries to Soufriere, including the "drive in" volcano crater.
Chip
& Dale at the base of Carbet Falls
On Guadeloupe, Barbara toured Fort Basseterre while Chip & Dale hiked up to Carbet Falls and swam in the pool at the base of them.

Trunk
Bay on St. John
We toured the Virgin Islands National Park and snorkled in Trunk Bay on St. John, considered one of the top ten beaches in the world.

Caribelle Batik factory

On Trinidad, Barbara toured
the Angostura Bitters factory while Chip & Dale went to the Mount St.
Benedict Monastery.
The bitters comprise only 2% of their business -- the rest is rum. They
are always trying new products and the factory workers are called upon at
random to sample the new products -- during the work day (it's a dirty job
but someone has to do it!).
